This all changed in only a few years when the tiny village population boomed and 'cottage orné' villas attracted artists, musicians, actors, poets and writers.

Through an engaging illustrated talk, we’ll uncover the locations, stories, and inspirations that shaped two of his most cherished novels.
Join us at Ventnor Arts Club, where this event is offered with a ticket price of £5 for members and £8 for non-members will be donated to support Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

Tours during the Isle of Wight Walking Festival and other organised events are £20 per person. Each tour requires a minimum of five people and is limited to a maximum of 10 participants to keep the experience intimate and engaging.

Walks outside of the special events such as the IOW Walking Festival, start at £120 for up to 6 people, with an additional £20 per person with a maximum of 10 walkers.

Each tour lasts approximately two and a half hours, giving us plenty of time to explore Bonchurch’s rich history and literary connections at a comfortable pace.

Scheduled tours begin at 10:00 AM, unless otherwise arranged. If you’re interested in a private or custom tour, we can discuss alternative timings.

For my organised tours, there is a maximum of 8–10 people. Keeping groups small ensures that everyone can hear the stories and ask questions, making for a more immersive experience.
I do accommodate larger groups, but this would need to be arranged in advance to ensure the best possible experience for all participants.

The fee allows me to acquire rare books, access specialist archives, and visit historic locations, all of which enrich the stories I share with you. I’m also working towards writing a book based on my findings, so every tour helps bring this project to life!
